Why Choose Us?
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the scout oath and law. On February 1, 2019, young women ages 11-17 were invited to join Scouting America and begin their journey on the trail to Eagle. Troop 439, chartered by the Saline American Legion, is an all female Scouts BSA Troop. Our youth have access to all the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises.

We are more than a Troop.
How Scouting Benefits You.
Scouting is more than just outdoors; it is an inspiring journey of self-development, learning, and the cultivation of strength, teamwork, character, and more.
The Scout Law
The Scout Law serves as a moral compass through twelve specific traits, including being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. It provides a proactive guide for treating others and navigating the world. Its purpose is to assist individuals in making the right decisions and acting according to core principles throughout their lives.
The Scout Oath
The Scout Oath is a three-part promise to do your best in every area of life. It’s a commitment to serve your country, help people whenever they need it, and keep yourself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. It is a pledge to live with purpose and hold yourself to a higher standard.
Be Prepared
The Scout Motto, “Be Prepared,” is a mindset of total readiness. It’s about doing the work before it’s needed—training your mind to stay calm under pressure and keeping your body ready to act. Whether it’s an everyday challenge or an emergency, being prepared means you have the skills, the tools, and the heart to step up and help when others can’t.
Scouting consists of key components essential for personal development, but its influence reaches far beyond these aspects. Participants engage in diverse experiences that promote growth, build meaningful relationships, and explore individual interests. This journey significantly enhances skills and character, shaping individuals while fostering teamwork, leadership, and community engagement.
